Dear Hilltop Families,

We want to first express our deepest gratitude to our Hilltop community for your support during this incredibly difficult time. We understand and appreciate your desire to spend a summer at Camp Hilltop. Having spent the last 39 summers at camp ourselves, we cannot think of experiencing summer any other way than with all of YOU at Hilltop.

Over the last two months we’ve been analyzing ever changing information, consulting experts and fellow camp directors, as well as creating and modifying a variety of plans. The one thing that is clear is that no plan can overcome the risks posed by COVID-19 at this time. No plan will allow us to give you a Hilltop experience, which will in any way, resemble the Hilltop you know and love, leaving us to make a gut wrenching decision.

This is not easy for us to say or for you to hear, but Camp Hilltop will be suspending the camp season for the summer of 2020. The health and safety of YOU; our campers, staff and families, are always our top priority. We all know living the Hilltop Way means taking care of and looking out for each other. That is what we MUST do this summer, as hard as that is.

We value the trust you put in us to make the decisions that must be made on behalf of over 800 campers and staff to keep the Hilltop community safe and healthy. We know many of you will feel disappointment, anger, sadness as well as other emotions and that is expected. It is ok to feel those emotions. Lean on your family, friends and us to help get you through. We all know how important camp friends are and now you need each other more than ever.

We cannot wait to welcome everyone back to Hilltop in 2021! Our program next summer will include those of you that will be 17 years old and our CIT’s as we know this is a capstone of your Hilltop experience. We want to ensure no one misses anything, except each other.

This summer we will have virtual events to keep us all connected. We may be apart but our Hilltop spirit is strong. So keep an eye out for virtual campfires and so much more!

We will be in touch shortly regarding finances but as we stated in a previous email, we will be giving a full credit for monies paid to date for camp 2021. For campers not enrolling for 2021, we will provide refunds, minus processing fees, paid to you between this June and next as soon as cash allows.

This is extremely difficult and three months ago unimaginable. Everyone has given up so much these past few months and this is yet another heroic sacrifice the Hilltop community is being asked to make. Breaking our own hearts may potentially save someone else. As hard as it is, we must protect each other.

We want to acknowledge the global impact of this virus. To all of our families that have been touched by COVID-19, you remain in our thoughts. We want to thank all members of the Hilltop community that are essential employees. You are all heroes for your strength, dedication and caring.

Do not fear, we will be back together at Camp Hilltop again, with friends, hugs, high fives, doing all of Hilltop’s amazing activities, being surrounded by the beauty of camp and best of all with YOU! You are resilient, strong and filled with love for each other and Hilltop. Hilltop will come together again in 2021!

We will miss all of you and cannot wait to have you at Hilltop again!
